FAQs
Addon Domains
Q. What is an addon domain?
A. An addon domain is a fully functional domain that will work out of a folder in your main sites ftp.
READ THIS BEFORE SETTING UP AN ADDON DOMAIN!
You cannot create an addon domain if your dns hasn't propagated to the server already. So after you change the sites dns you are trying to add you will need to wait 24-48 hours before attempting to create your addon domain.
There are three fields cpanel asks for when creating an addon domain.
1. "New Domain Name:" You will put in the newdomain.com do not put www in the name!
2. "Username/directory/subdomain Name:" This will be the folder cpanel creates in your main accounts ftp. MAKE SURE that the name you give it doesn't already have a folder. Example: If you want to give it the username chris. You cannot have a folder in your account named chris already. If you do and still try creating the username for the addon domain to be chris you will mess a lot of things up!!!
3. "Password:" fill in any password you want here.
Q. Help! I added an addon domain why did it say subdomain added?
A. It creates it as a subdomain by creating the folder within your main sites ftp. Please ignore this! It is a fully functional domain name. It is only called a subdomain when in fact it is an addon domain.

Q. Why do some people that send me email get bounce errors that say "Could not complete sender verify call out" or "Sender verify failed"?
A. SYMPTOMS: When someone attempts to send you email it never arrives. The email is eventually bounced back to the sender with an error similar to those below:
550 Could not complete sender verify call out
550 Sender verify failed
CAUSE:
Our mail servers attempt to validate the sending email address before accepting any mail. They do this by issuing a RCPT TO command to the sending mail server with the senders email address. If the sending mail server responds with a 250 command then they know the sending email address exists and therefore accept the message.
If we are unable to verify the sender then we issue a response similar to that above.
The main reason that the sender verify can fail is because the remote mail server does not conform to standard RFCs. We issue a RCPT TO command to their server but they do not wait long enough for a response. RFC 2821 #4.5.3.2 states that the mail server should wait up to 5 minutes for a response.
RESOLUTION:
Ask the sender to ensure their mail server complies with RFC 2821 #4.5.3.2 and/or on a per email basis, we can white list specific email addresses you need to communicate with while the IT staff of the sending server is adjusting their servers configuration. Please provide the contact information of the IT staff that manages the senders email server.
FTP
Q. Where can I download a free FTP?
A. We recommend downloading WS FTP from here
Q. It's not letting me upload my files... what's wrong?
A. Make sure you are uploading to the right web directory which is the public_html folder.
Q. Why doesn't my FTP password change when I change my Cpanel password?
A. If you are using your hosting accounts primary username and password for FTP, this is why changing the cpanel password is requireing you change your FTP password. Please allow 24 hours for your FTP password to sync with your cpanel password. Additionally you can create FTP only users in your cPanel so this does not happen.
